Death do us part
18 x 24
Limited Edition of 150
This work was inspired by the vows of marriage. Lilies
were used to symbolize the bond of love and commitment of a married
couple. That underlying couples bond can only be broken after the
death of a spouse. The two lilies show that love with one lily gently
holding the dying lily in its leaves as it sheds a single tear.
An interesting interpretation one view shared their view of the
other lilies in the background representing the family left behind
when a loved one dies. I have received comments regarding the dying
lily bleeding. I believe this represents the reality of death and
it really can’t be romanticized. It is a painful emotion for
all involved and represents my dark reflections of experiencing
such loss in my life.
