I wanted to show the love between two people using flowers synonymous with love—red roses. There are a lot of symbolisms of love and relationships. Can you see them all? A few to look for include the leaves shaped and shaded as female lips and the two ladybugs are kissing (my wife loves ladybugs!) One big hidden representation of love that I thought was quite obvious many people miss until they step away from the painting and look at it from a distance. The leaves at the bottom of the piece, along with the stems of the flower spell the word LOVE, with the “V” being formed where the stems of the flowers meet. It takes both stems and leaves to make the word LOVE just like it takes two people. The background uses a love letter from the 1800’s and one stem has a heart with the initials of my wife and I carved into it like a tree trunk.
