Graphite rendering over watercolor wash on textured art board

This image is all about sexy bedroom eyes and trying to give them life and emotion using the color of the blue irises pull the viewer in. This is another piece completed when I was doing a lot of graphite work. Using the same technique as in the Christmas Ornament, a wash of color was laid first with graphite work on top of the color to build the image. An interesting note about this piece is the comments I received from a few puzzle folks. They quickly pointed out the puzzle pieces above the eyes could not be put together as I drew it… A lesson on details is what I learned from that! This image was also printed on note cards in a limited run.
